Roger Cole, (Local Candidate) - Labour
Roger Cole was the Chief Steward and one of the main organizers of the largest anti-war march in Dublin in February 2003 when 120,000 people showed their opposition to the war on Iraq.
He has lived in Dun Laoghaire since 1956 where he now runs an Advertising Sales Agency with offices in Dalkey and Dun Laoghaire. He has a long interest in politics, and his grandfather was a Local Councillor in Kilkenny City.
He founded the Trinity College Branch of the Labour Party, and was General Secretary of the SLP led by Dr Noel Browne and Matt Merrigan. He was elected to serve on the Labour Party General Council and is currently a member of the Party’s Finance and International Affairs Committees.
He is a member of SIPTU. He is on the Observer Pillar of the Forum on Europe.
He was the Campaign Director of the Dun Laoghaire Anti-Amendment and Divorce Action Groups.
He is the Chair of the Peace and Neutrality Alliance, which advocates an Independent Irish Foreign Policy, Irish Neutrality and a reformed United Nations.
He is a strong supporter of Europe, a Europe that is a Partnership of Independent, Democratic states, legal equals, without a military dimension; a Social Europe, not a militarized Europe. The Labour Party in Dun Laoghaire in the local elections will be seeking to build a Labour-led alliance to provide a local government that will end FF dominance.
